Are you planning to spend just a day in Prague during a quick layover or don’t have enough time in the Czech capital? Well then, here’s the perfect 1 day Prague itinerary for first time visitors.
Got just a day in Prague? How Best to Spend it?
Well ofcourse 1 day in Prague is simply not enough. Having said that, if you happen to have just 24 hours in Prague, I would say make the most of it.
I would suggest a mix of offbeat attractions and popular hangouts.
Start your day by a refreshing dip in the lake Hostivařská přehrada (Aka Hostivar Dam or vodní nádrž Hostivař).
Finding a relaxing lake spot away from city madness, is a blessing in itself. It opens at 9 am so even if you get a couple of hours swimming and sunning, it will set the tone for your day.
Next, visit a beer spa for an authentic, relaxing experience the city has to offer. Famous for the beer spa culture, find a good beer spa (this is the one we visited) where you can soak in refreshing brews. The complete experience is just an hour long, so you will still have enough time to enjoy a full day in Prague.
By noon you should’ve tried both experiences and must’ve worked up quite an appetite. There are tons of good restaurants in Prague offering local as well as global cuisines. We quite enjoyed Bali Kitchen which serves authentic Indonesian cuisine.
After food, if you are like me and want to take a small siesta before evening shenanigans kick in, you can head to your hotel and do so. Else you can easily walk around for hours in Prague – feed cute nutria by the lake, or stroll the forests surrounding the castle and watch the sunset from atop.

Post siesta (or walking around) whatever you choose to do, I would suggest take this GetYourGuide tour for a shooting experience with Prague Ranger.
We took the 2 hour session with 10 different guns and had a legit “blast” shooting targets and learning how to use different arms.

You will be high on adrenaline after firing these big boys, so get ready for a night out as Prague is renowned for its bustling nightlife.
I got so engrossed in the umpteen unique bars and unusual drinking holes that I went on a mission to find the best bars in Prague during my stay. Here’s my detailed inputs of the 17 best bars in Prague – for every traveler.

I would highly recommend you to select at least 4-5 from the list (you can check the ones that are in city center or close to each other) and bar hop to enjoy the best of all spots. 2 of my favorites were the horror themed Nightmare bar and the Green Devils Absinthe bar.
After a wild night of drinking and a day well spent, you would find that your 24-hour Prague itinerary was ideal. Having spent a lovely day in Prague, you would surely want to come back for more. Ideally, spend a few weeks exploring the city at your pace and enjoy the umpteen attractions it has to offer.
