How to Spend 2 days in Berlin – [Itinerary, Tours & Attractions]

Even though I spent over a week in Berlin, most people opt for a quick weekend getaway to this coolest capital of the world. Making the most of your 2 days in Berlin is imperative as quite honestly, even several weeks are not enough to explore this pretty city.

Based on your travel style, you can choose the spots you want to visit but simply walking around town in the summer time, was joyous for me.

Berlin has beautiful parks and lovely lakes for nature/ outdoor lovers; stunning street art, graffiti and murals to ignite your inner artist; 170 epic museums for history buffs and a wide palate for foodies.

Really, there is something for everyone in this German capital.

What to do in Berlin in 2 days

So if you are in Berlin just for the weekend, you will surely be overwhelmed with options. I would suggest a few simple, easy to do things and tours for a peppy, fun, light hearted 2 days in Berlin city.

Street Art Workshop and Tour

Your 2 day Berlin itinerary is incomplete without trying this super awesome street art tour which ends in a kick ass workshop. This amazing tour, conducted by Alternative Berlin Tours was surely one of the highlights of my trip to Berlin.

Crazy murals on the streets of Berlin

Conducted by knowledgeable artists, this tour takes you though the alleys and back streets, giving you the perfect introduction to Berlin’s graffiti, mural and street art scene. Showcasing some of the best artists and their history, this tour is fun all the way.

The best part, however, is the workshop at the end. You enter a  abandoned old factory, converted into a mecca for artists. With thumping music playing in the backdrop, you will be gawking wide mouthed at the epic art splattered across the walls.

Next you get a small lesson in stenciling and spray painting. You get to create your own masterpiece and take it home with you.

For someone like me, who doesn’t have an artistic bone in my body, I managed to stencil and paint a perfect punk with the help of these our awesome guides. Honestly, this felt very therapeutic and accounts for one of my best tours, which didn’t even break the bank.

These back to back murals are painted on the Berlin wall , or what’s left of it, making it a big tourist attraction of Berlin.

For a quick stroll and pictures, it won’t take you more than 40 mins so adding it to your two days in Berlin, seems very much do-able.

Watch an Open Air Match

If you happen to be in Berlin around an important sporting event, don’t miss the free open air public screenings. The vibes are absolutely amazing – I had so much fun watching the soccer world cup at the Brandenburg gate this summer.

Walk around town

If you are in Berlin on a budget during summer time, walking around is perhaps the best way to explore the popular areas. There are many cathedrals, architectural delights and gardens to relax at when tired. Plus, tons of places to pose for thy Instagram shots.

Try local brews

You are in Germany – the land of beer. It would be a shame not to try all the amazing variety of local brews here.

Check out the Insane Night life

No trip to Berlin is complete without checking out the abundance of bars, night clubs, discos, pubs and the likes. Berlin is a mecca for party goers so if you are like me, you will be waking up with a hangover every afternoon and partying till wee hours of the morning.

The usual suspects are Water gate and Tresor. If you are in the mood for insanity and have the courage for it, I would recommend trying the club renowned worldwide for its strict gate policy – Berghain.

If you are not in the mood for high end techno, just visit a laid back happy place – Irish pub where its easy to make friends and what’s more – they have live music every night.

For the best city views and chic crowd, check out the swanky Monkey bar in Bikini Berlin.

Lastly, if you just want to enjoy some open air beer and pizza by the river, the artsy district of ‘Holzmarkt‘ is highly recommended. I had one of the best days in Berlin, just sitting and drinking by the river, as I chatted with my friend while watching ducks and quirky decor all around.

Top Short Tours to Try in Berlin
